JAWBONE IS EARLIEST EVIDENCE OF MODERN HUMANS IN NORTH-WESTERN EUROPE
Experts from the University of Oxford and the Natural History Museum in London have re-dated Torquay Museum’s world famous Kent’s Cavern jawbone and discovered that it is the oldest anatomically modern human fossil in north-western Europe.

RETURN OF MUSEUM'S CLASSIC FILM CLUB
By popular demand, Torquay Museum's Classic Film Club is back. From Friday 13th January you will be able to watch some of the best classic movies ever made - as they should be seen, on the big screen? Every week, on a Friday afternoon, you can see classics from Gone with the Wind to Singin' in the Rain. EGYPTIAN ‘ROYAL’ COFFIN DISCOVERED AT TORQUAY MUSEUM
An extremely rare Egyptian coffin, possibly belonging to the son of a king or queen, has been ‘discovered’ at Torquay Museum – so rare is the coffin that even the British Museum doesn't have one quite like it. The coffin and its mummy are on display in the Museum's Explorers Gallery.
AGATHA CHRISTIE GALLERY
Visit Britain's only permanent gallery dedicated to the life story of Torquay's most famous daughter, the world's undisputed Queen of Crime. Trace the eventful life of the best-selling author of all time through a vast collection of photographs and images.
There’s also a programme of other temporary exhibitions, events, school holiday activities and workshops, which means that there is always something new to see and do at Torquay Museum.
Friday Afternoon Classic Film Club
Torquay Museum's Classic Film Club returns on Friday 13th January. Come and enjoy some of the best classic movies ever made - as they should be seen, on the big screen. Every week, on a Friday afternoon, you can see classics from Gone with the Wind to Singin' in the Rain.
Torquay Museum has a modern and comfortable 200 seat cinema, and you won't have to pay a fortune to see these films either - only £3.50*. You can even have a delicious home-made lunch in the Museum's cafe before you see the film, for a combined film and meal price of £7.50 - booking essential, ring 01803 293975 to reserve your table.
