Spring arrives in Torbay
Had a lovely family action packed weekend. On Saturday we took the kiddiewinks for a long walk around the beautiful Torbay coastline, starting off at Paignton green we walked all the way along Paignton seafront to Preston sands and ended up on Hollicombe beach. The sun was shining and we were worried that we had forgotten the sunscreen, our coats came off for the first time this year and we even managed to paddle in the sea without getting frostbite. When the sun is shining in Costa de la Torbay you really could be abroad ;)
On Sunday we ventured out of Torbay to explore another beautiful Devon hotspot. We went to Avon dam on Dartmoor which is about a 30 min drive away. The weather had taken a turn from yesterday and it was blowing a hoolie!! Avon dam is a reservoir set in an amazing valley you can really feel the ruggedness of the moors as you walk along a pushchair and wheel chair friendly tarmac road following the river Avon. When we reached the dam, in true British fashion we stopped and ate our cheese and ham sandwiches with a flask of tea in the freezing cold (so cold our 2 year old was turning blue). Then trudged back to our car, where a very optimistic ice-cream van had parked alongside.
All the walking of the past 2 days allowed us to enjoy a guilt free homemade roast and glass of wine to finish the off weekend in front of a roaring log fire. We really do count our blessings to live in such amazing part of the world.
