| Walt Comber was born in Torquay, Devon in 1949. While serving with the Corps
of Royal Engineers Walt kindled his interest in woodwork, in 1980 he purchased
his first lathe, and turned his garage into a mini workshop. In 1992 after completing
22 years colour service he returned to Torquay and turned his love for wood into
a crafts business. |

The aptly named Forest Rd workshop was purchased in 1994 along
with some new machinery. Production and sales grew rapidly and in 1998 wife Lucia
became partner in the business taking over the finishing and flocking giving Walt
more time to concentrate on new designs.
By meeting every customer this has allowed Walt to build on individual customer
comments. We hope you enjoy browsing through our gallery of unique log boxes and
associated links. |
Walt's son Jason has recently joined the team and is already contributing
new ideas and individual flair. Walt produces three distinct styles of Log Boxes
beginning with drawers cut through the heartwood, the more intricate and rustic
with drawers cut through the bark, and thirdly a range of puzzle boxes.
Walt has until now sold all items directly to the customer at three major Crafts
Festivals in Torbay and Plymouth with duration's from 11 to 25 days. This allows
3-4 months uninterrupted production time between each show. |
