Beaches

Torbay’s coast is a string of beaches and coves from Maidencombe in the north to Sharkham Point in the south. Most are family-friendly with shallow shelving and clean water.

Popular beaches

  • Babbacombe – shingle and sand, sheltered, the Cliff Railway runs down to it
  • Oddicombe – long pebble beach next to Babbacombe
  • Meadfoot – long sandy bay east of Torquay
  • Goodrington Sands – the bay’s flagship family beach, Paignton
  • Paignton Sands – the long main beach below the pier
  • Broadsands – quiet sandy beach south of Paignton
  • Breakwater Beach – Brixham, inside the harbour breakwater
  • Mansands – remote sand and shingle cove south of Brixham
  • Maidencombe – small red-sand cove north of Babbacombe
