Beaches
Torbay’s coast is a string of beaches and coves from Maidencombe in the north to Sharkham Point in the south. Most are family-friendly with shallow shelving and clean water.
Popular beaches
- Babbacombe – shingle and sand, sheltered, the Cliff Railway runs down to it
- Oddicombe – long pebble beach next to Babbacombe
- Meadfoot – long sandy bay east of Torquay
- Goodrington Sands – the bay’s flagship family beach, Paignton
- Paignton Sands – the long main beach below the pier
- Broadsands – quiet sandy beach south of Paignton
- Breakwater Beach – Brixham, inside the harbour breakwater
- Mansands – remote sand and shingle cove south of Brixham
- Maidencombe – small red-sand cove north of Babbacombe
