Beach huts: where to book in the bay

If you’re visiting for a week and want a base on the beach, hut hire is cheaper than you’d expect and books up faster than you’d expect.

Goodrington Sands

The bay’s biggest hut row – around 40 huts, all council-managed, weekly hire from around GBP120 in peak. Books up in February. Apply via Torbay Council.

Babbacombe Downs

Small row of private huts above the railway. Rarely advertised, occasionally on local Facebook groups. Premium prices.

Meadfoot

A handful of private huts at the eastern end. Talk to the cafe – they often know who has availability.

Broadsands

Newer row south of Paignton. Mix of council and private hire. Quietest of the council options.

Day hire isn’t generally an option in Torbay – everything is weekly or longer. For day-only sun shelter, the windbreaks at all the major beaches are reasonably-priced rentals from the kiosks.
