Coffee shops with sea views

Coffee with a view – the bay does it well. Here are five worth a special trip.

Anstey’s Cove Cafe

Down a steep path off Babbacombe Downs, perched on the cliff above one of the prettiest small coves on the south coast. Decent flat white, excellent crab sandwich, dog welcome.

The Cary Arms Beach Hut

Babbacombe Beach. Sit on the terrace, watch the kayaks, drink the best espresso in the bay. Pricy but worth it.

Drift Wood Cafe, Goodrington

Beach-edge, family-friendly, the full English at weekends is a proper feed.

The Captain’s Table, Brixham

Inside the inner harbour, watch the trawlers come and go while you eat. Order the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon.

Cafe Aroma, Torquay Harbour

Right on the waterfront, busy at lunchtime, good for a quick pit-stop with a view back across the bay.
